How Wales population are affected by dental care?
The NHS has released new statistics about how the Welsh population are affected by dental care. One of the most telling statistics in this Wales report about dental care is that almost half of the Welsh population (47%) were reported to having decayed teeth, which included crowns and roots.
If almost half of the Welsh population has some sort of decay in their teeth, this means there is now an even bigger need for dental insurance plans. This way they can work with your teeth to give you the proper care and after-care to actually support the health of your teeth.
If you find yourself being part of the groups of people who have decayed teeth, here are several ways that dental healthcare can help you:
Thorough check-ups: Depending on how decayed your teeth are, a check-up will give you the full idea of what you can expect for yourself. The majority of dental plans have check-ups built in because they know that while decay can seem like a slow process, it can happen quite rapidly depending on the current state of your teeth. If you want to have several check-ups, make sure you choose a detailed dental insurance plan that will allow you to go several times.
Gum checks: Screening for gum disease is extremely important and you can get this screening on several plans. The NHS study found that 56% of adults that live in Wales had experience some sort of bleeding from the gums. Bleeding from the gums could be something innocuous or it could be a sign of gum disease. Either way, using your dental plan to have your gums screened is the perfect way to keep any kind of gum disease issues at bay.
Fillings: If you want to have fillings done, some insurance plans will allow for this to happen subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance provider. The need for fillings amongst the Welsh population is continuing to rise – the NHS study found that around 86% of adults had least one or more types of crown fillings for their teeth. With such a high number, it is important to find dental treatment that will not be too expensive for the range of budgets available.
